Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By installing or using Legible, you confirm that you have the authority to bind the Shopify store you're installing it on to these terms, and that you accept them in full. These terms apply to the store entity, not just to you personally.

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you through the Shopify admin. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.

2. Service description

Legible is a Shopify application that analyzes your product catalog and produces an AI-agent-readiness score across six core pillars — Descriptions (AI-scored) · Images · Alt text coverage · Metafields coverage · Taxonomy consistency · Duplicates — plus a Multilingual audit for stores that sell in multiple languages. Legible can also publish AI-generated product content — description rewrites, structured product metafields (such as a subtitle or care guide), and category/taxonomy attributes — back to your Shopify catalog when you click Apply on a specific suggestion.

The Service:

• Reads product data from your Shopify store via the Admin API.
• Runs scoring analysis using AI and embedding models (see our Privacy Policy for sub-processors).
• Displays scores, recommendations, and trends in a dashboard inside your Shopify admin.
• Writes AI-generated product content back to your Shopify store — product description rewrites, structured product metafields (such as a subtitle or care guide), and category/taxonomy attributes — but only when you click Apply on a specific suggestion. Every applied write is logged and independently undoable for 30 days. Legible never writes alt text or images, and never accesses or writes customer, payment, fulfillment, or staff data.
• Reads order data only in a strictly data-minimized way — order quantities, products, and totals to show before/after sales impact — and never reads any customer name, email, phone, or address. Legible does not request the read_customers scope.

Write safety rails. Every write — description, metafield, or taxonomy attribute — is gated by (i) a hallucination scan that rejects content which introduces unsupported regulatory, numeric, or brand claims; (ii) a prompt-injection guard against adversarial instructions embedded in product text; and (iii) a per-plan daily catalog-write cap (Starter 500, Pro 2,000, Business 10,000 successful writes in a rolling 24-hour window; undoing a previous write does not consume the cap). If you click Undo and Shopify's current value differs from what Legible wrote, the Service refuses to silently overwrite the foreign edit and presents a three-way diff so you can resolve manually.

You are the human-in-the-loop. The Service surfaces AI-generated description suggestions for your review; no description is written to your Shopify store without your explicit Apply click on a specific suggestion. You are responsible for the content of any rewrite you choose to apply, and for verifying any factual claim (materials, dimensions, certifications, ingredients) before applying.

We reserve the right to add, modify, or remove features as the product evolves. We will communicate significant changes in advance via the Shopify admin where possible.

3. Billing

Subscriptions to Legible are managed entirely through Shopify's billing system. By subscribing, you authorize Shopify to charge your store's payment method on our behalf.

Current plans:

• Starter — $49/month or $490/year (2 months free)
• Pro — $89/month or $890/year (2 months free)
• Business — $199/month or $1,990/year (2 months free)

All plans include a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged until the trial period ends. You can cancel at any time during the trial without being billed.

Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time by uninstalling Legible from your Shopify admin (Settings → Apps → Legible → Uninstall). Shopify stops billing immediately on cancellation. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods, consistent with Shopify's billing policy.

Refunds: Refund requests are handled according to Shopify's Partner Revenue Share and App Store terms. Contact us at hamza@trylegible.com if you believe a charge was made in error.

We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified through Shopify admin before any price change takes effect.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer the Service, attempt to extract source code, or circumvent any access controls.
• Scrape or systematically query our API endpoints beyond normal app usage. The scoring API is for your store's dashboard only, not for bulk data extraction.
• Share one subscription across multiple shops. Each subscription is licensed to a single Shopify store. If you operate multiple stores, each requires its own subscription.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that violates Shopify's Partner Program Agreement.
• Attempt to disrupt or overload our infrastructure, including sending unusually high volumes of sync requests.

We reserve the right to suspend access for violations of these terms with or without prior notice, depending on severity.

5. Our obligations

We will make reasonable efforts to keep the Service available and accurate. In practical terms:

• We aim for high availability but do not guarantee any specific uptime percentage in this version of the Service (v1). There is no formal SLA.
• We will communicate planned maintenance through the Shopify admin dashboard where possible.
• We will process uninstall and data-deletion requests within the timelines described in our Privacy Policy.
• We will respond to support requests within 1 business day (Mon–Fri, Casablanca timezone).

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Specifically:

• AI outputs are not guaranteed to be accurate. Scores, recommendations, and AI-generated description rewrites are produced by large-language-model and embedding sub-processors and are advisory only. You are the human-in-the-loop: every description rewrite is presented to you for review and applied to your Shopify store only after you click Apply on the specific suggestion. You are responsible for the content of any rewrite you choose to apply.
• You are responsible for your catalog content. Legible scores what you have — it does not validate that your product data, including any rewrite you approve, is legally compliant, accurate, or suitable for any particular marketplace, jurisdiction, or AI platform. You should verify factual claims (materials, dimensions, certifications, ingredients) before applying any rewrite.
• We do not guarantee search, traffic, or AI platform outcomes. A higher Legible score improves catalog quality and AI-agent readability, but does not guarantee ranking, discoverability, sales, or performance on any third-party platform. Any modelled estimates of visibility, traffic, or sales lift surfaced by the Service are directional only and are not commitments.
• Undo is best-effort within 30 days. Legible logs every applied rewrite to allow you to undo for 30 days. If Shopify's current description differs from what Legible wrote at the time you click Undo, the Service refuses to silently overwrite and presents a three-way diff for manual review. Undo is not available after 30 days from the apply date.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Legible's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service — whether in contract, tort, or otherwise — is limited to the total fees you paid to us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

In no event will Legible be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or incidental damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

8. Termination

By you: You may stop using the Service and terminate your subscription at any time by uninstalling Legible from your Shopify admin. No notice period is required.

By us: We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms and, where the breach is remediable, fail to remedy it within 7 days of written notice. We may terminate immediately for serious violations (e.g. attempts to scrape or attack our infrastructure).

On termination for any reason, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Data deletion follows the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Morocco, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us at hamza@trylegible.com.

If you are a consumer located in a jurisdiction that mandates local consumer-protection law as governing law, those mandatory protections apply in addition to these terms, not instead of them.
